“Tuki tumarankeh,” is a Wolof expression meaning, “It is the traveler who faces the most difficulty.” So apt to the experiences of displaced peoples, it was chosen as the name for a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the welfare of displaced peoples, globally, through the conduct and promotion of high quality academic research.

  • Tuki Tumarankeh is organized around the following goals.
  • To advance the welfare of displaced peoples, globally, through the conduct and promotion of high quality academic research pertaining to issues affecting displaced populations.
  • To educate and inform the general population about issues affecting displaced peoples through publications, presentations, and lectures.
  • To create a collaborative community of like-minded researchers, writers, academics, and advocates concerned with issues affecting displaced populations.
  • To increase funding access for researchers, writers, academics, and advocates concerned with issues affecting displaced populations by providing organizational affiliation and oversight for independent initiatives and programs.
